experiment! fake come out

university student427survey of people

During the four years from 2010 to 2013, I conducted a class called Human Sexuality at Kwansei Gakuin University, under Professor Jo Takeda. This class is a rich subject in which sexuality experts and concerned parties talk as guests every time. The session we were in charge of was in the middle of the course, so we decided that the students had deepened their understanding of sexuality to some extent, and that they could endure this assignment.

The task is heavy and dangerous for both yourself and others, and there are LGBTQ students, so I had a choice of two tasks: a fake come-out experience report and a normal research report. When conducting the event, talk about their experiences of coming out and encourage them to imagine what the tension and anxiety might be like. I was telling you.

By learning about sexuality and gender from instructors in various positions, it is possible to motivate students to think, "I need to try a fake come-out to actually understand the feelings and situations of LGBTQ people. Let's do it." I think I was able to do it because the overall structure of this program was well done.

As a result, I was surprised that many students chose to challenge the fake coming out. It is interesting to note that many students, even though they are not LGBTQ, experience the exact same tensions, anxieties and panics that LGBTQ people experience. See PDF for detailed summary. (At that time, I think I was doing my best with tallying and commenting.)

Below is the content of the issues at that time.
